Study visits, trips and excursions
All of our students get the chance to have some fun on trips away from college. Our field trips have an educational, cultural, environmental, sport or social focus.
We are lucky to be so close to Stratford upon Avon (for Shakespeare), Bath (for the Romans), Wales (for castles), Thorpe Park (for the rides), Birmingham (for Cadbury’s World), Stonehenge (for the heritage) and of course London (for everything else!).
Exploring London
It takes just one hour by bus or train to get to London and once you have tried the Tube you can reach anywhere in the city fairly easily. We arrange trips to:
- West End shows and orchestral performances in London
- markets on Sundays in London like Brick Lane and Camden Town;
- historic sites like the Tower of London
- famous locations like Trafalgar Square, Greenwich, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace;
- boat trips on the River Thames;
- visits to the many famous museums like the Natural History Museum and art galleries like the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square
There is lots on offer in the capital city including a diverse selection of restaurants, theatre shows and local markets. And the city is not short of high street and designer shops at places like Brent Cross, Westfield, Harrods in Knightsbridge, Hamleys toys on Regent Street and Oxford Street.
Weekends away
Our House Parents organise a range of fun trips and excursions for our Pre-IB students. Our excellent weekend programme includes both social opportunities and the chance to try new things. You will develop vital leadership skills through the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and get the chance to explore the UK with inspiring outings to Blenheim Palace, London, Brighton, the beautiful Chilterns and many more.
Our IB students take part in trips for study and for pleasure. As part of their science course they spend a week on a field trip studying biological systems. For their second-language options like Spanish and Portuguese they have been to Barcelona and Lisbon. As part of their politics and history studies we arrange a trip to Northern Ireland to learn about the Troubles of the 70s and 80s and visit the Titanic ship yard.
